A track record of success
Our team have a track record of delivering successful anaerobic digestion (AD) projects, starting with the development of one of the first AD plants in Scotland over 15 years ago.
We have built up a team of specialist engineers from a range of disciplines who have a significant track record in the delivery of AD projects and we can offer a full cycle service for your project from feasibility (including feedstock assessment and delivering large scale pilot trials), to procurement, planning/permitting and construction.
For the construction phase we can act as Principal Designer and Principal Contractor if required including site management with our NEBOSH certified staff. We also have extensive experience in contract drafting mainly with the IChemE suite of contracts and NEC3.
Post construction we can assist with plant operations and technical support/plant upgrades to enable our clients to secure long terms stable running of their AD plant.
We have significant current and recent project experience in a number of sectors including the chemical/pharmaceutical, whisky distilling and food and drink sectors.
Lake District Biogas
This project is a highly technical project which combines anaerobic digestion with a gas upgrade plant followed by re-injection of gas to the national gas grid and will be one of the first of its kind in the UK.
The project, which also includes the additional elements of a CHP plant and biogas boiler, is currently nearing completion and will take the whey from the First Milk process plant at Aspatria in Cumbria to produce high quantities of biogas through the application of an AD process.
Between 2002 and 2007 I Chaired the Environmental Services Committee of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar as it moved away from landfill to finding sustainable solutions for domestic and commercial waste. Uisdean and his team identified AD as a viable option and after detailed consideration of all options backed by detailed research and expert advice he was tasked to deliver the (then) highest value capital project ever envisaged by the Council. This involved detailed financial negotiations at the highest levels as well as a detailed 7-year delivery plan, involving major stepped structural changes in the service delivery to ensure that the structure were in place for the delivery of the capital project. Uisdean and I worked very closely to find practical, financial and political solutions to all the problems, and when the budget was halved by Government, he was still able to design and deliver the project on time and to the new budget. Since then, Uisdean has gone from strength to strength in the private sector providing solutions to firms of all sizes with a variety of business needs. I cannot recommend Uisdean highly enough.
