Tom graduated with a BEng from the University of Strathclyde in 2024 and joined the Synergie Environ team as a Graduate Engineer in November 2024. Alongside joining Synergie Environ, he is currently undertaking a master’s degree in Environmental Management through The Open University. This has built on Tom’s knowledge of sustainable organisations and how to make sound environmental decisions that positively impact the planet.
One key project Tom has worked on so far in his development as an engineer is a solvent-to-biogas feasibility study, where he has enhanced his proficiency with AutoCAD to create site layout plans, provide strong data analysis, and support technical reporting.
Tom has also been a key member of a series of mini-projects, all focusing on different sustainability initiatives to help organisations reduce emissions and cut costs. These projects have included low-carbon generation initiatives, such as solar power installations, as well as energy efficiency projects involving equipment upgrades and heat recovery systems.
Tom’s strengths lie in data manipulation, and he has been instrumental in supporting various projects through statistical analysis and data management. This includes analysing data received for ESOS assessments and managing large datasets gathered during energy audits.
So far, Tom has enjoyed the diverse range of projects he has had the opportunity to contribute to. As he continues to build on his skills, he is looking forward to expanding his expertise and gaining experience across multiple fields within the sustainability and environmental sector, he is motivated by helping deliver meaningful change in industry.
