    MEng Mechanical Engineering

    Experience/About me

Lewis graduated with a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Glasgow in 2018.

Lewis has always had a strong interest in the Renewables Industry which developed throughout his university career when undertaking courses such as Renewable Energy and Energy Conversion Systems. For his final year masters project, as part of a team Lewis designed and carried out a feasibility study on the possibility of implementing a vertical axis wind turbine on the main shaft of an existing horizontal axis wind turbine on a rooftop at the university. He also worked on projects such as the Integrated System Design Project (ISDP) and the Mechanical Design course. For the ISDP course he was tasked with working in a team of engineers from different backgrounds to try and regenerate a local area from a ‘Circular Economies’ approach which was helpful in developing skills such as project management, communication/presentation, working to goals/deadlines and the ability to work and liaise with engineers from various disciplines. As part of the design team he was also tasked to take an open-ended customer brief for a large-scale one-off item and create a unique engineering solution to match the brief which allowed his skills of product development, mechanical analysis, eco-design, design for operation and maintenance, risk reduction/failure analysis, and design for disposal to be enhanced.

Having taken some time out after university Lewis is delighted to join the dynamic team at Synergie Environ to pursue his career in low carbon engineering and looks forward to challenging and interesting projects which will enable him to gain chartership.
