Welcome to 3 new Engineers – Calum, Matt & Michalis

A warm welcome to three new Engineers Calum Grant, Matt Chadbourn and Michalis Thaniotis who joined our team this week as part of our continuing expansion. Calum and Matt will be predominately delivering our design and build projects whilst Michalis will be focusing more on onsite construction of our expanding AD construction portfolio.

Calum has recently graduated with Distinction from MEng Chemical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde and has taken up his first professional post as a graduate project engineer with us. From his studies, he has gained a broad technical knowledge on a range of low carbon and sustainable energy technologies. He completed a research internship at Strathclyde University with the aim to commercialise methane storage for use in combustion engines. This was done by modelling the behaviour of novel adsorbents. Further to his academic studies, he has worked in Australia as site supervisor in the construction industry gaining project management experience.

Matt graduated from Heriot Watt University with a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering and a Diploma in Industrial Training. He is passionate about innovative design and sustainability, and as part of his final year design project he completed a design for a novel activated carbon absorber for industrial effluent treatment. Following university, Matt worked for five years with the internationally-recognised engineering consultancy Atkins. During this time he completed an IChemE accredited graduate program and gained experience as a Process Safety engineer, developing complex Quantified Risk Assessments for clients in a range of sectors including oil and gas, chemicals and offshore wind. During this time he also secured two placements in the Defence sector, during which he conducted design and material verification for high value components and systems.

Michalis graduated with a Masters degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh. Following university, Michalis worked for five years within the specialised Pipeline Production Team of Subsea 7, a world-leading seabed-to-surface engineering, construction, and services contractor to the offshore energy industry.
