This project is a highly technical project which combines anaerobic digestion with a gas upgrade plant followed by re-injection of gas to the national gas grid and will be one of the first of its kind in the UK. The project, which also includes the additional elements of a CHP plant and biogas boiler, takes the whey from the First Milk process plant at Aspatria in Cumbria to produce high quantities of biogas through the application of an AD process.

SEL acted as both Client Engineer and Client Project Manager for the project from pre-contract stage through to commissioning of the plant which is now complete and produces an estimated 40 million kWhs of biomethane per annum.
